A Birthday Toast to My Husband

IMG_0887img321

I remember sitting at a farewell dinner for Wade, surrounded by the women who had worked for him when he was the Publisher for Aspen Sojourner. He had decided to leave Publishing and start his own Contracting Company.

As the wine glasses clinked they each gave their toasts of adoration, “Here’s saying goodbye to the greatest eye candy ever”, they swooned. He was the man of their dreams, chivalrous, caring and honest with great integrity.

It is true that Wade has a pleasing and dignified appearance.  I have witnessed a group of girls stop in their tracks to watch him walk through the snowy mall in his tweed coat and seen a gorgeous femme fatale bedecked in fur and jewels smiling at him from afar but there is more to Wade than meets the eye.

Today is Wade’s birthday and I would like to raise my glass and toast Wade for who he truly is:

Wade you are a man who looks positively at life regardless of the struggles and obstacles you endure. You have a terrific sense of humor and a remarkable intuition which you get from your mum. You are calm and patient, that is until your boys, or I, push you to your limit and Baaaaaaddy emerges.

I love when you affectionately call me Jiggilian or Blogzilla and when you laugh so hard that you cry at my idiosyncrasies.

I love that you never complain when I wear my favorite cowboy boots knowing that the only way they will come off is with your help.

It is true that I am often slightly put off by your rawness like when you remind the kids to wash their butts and balls but it is also your rawness and MacGyvering ways that attract me to you. I have even grown to love your Chippendale mating dance on the upstairs balcony.

Thank you for being you Wade and accepting me for who I am. Thank you for putting up with my crazy obsessions like when I speak to you in unbroken Spanish for nine months or ask you to  make a video on what it is like to be married to a blogger.

Thank you for your unfailing support and love and for allowing me to be me. The freedom that you give me and your love fills me to the brim. You give me strength and happiness and my fears seem so insignificant when I am near you, unless we are in the ocean and I am drowning in the waves that you are playing in.

I am proud of you and I am forever grateful of the love that we share and I look forward to waking up beside you until I am old and gray, which does not feel so far away anymore.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND CHEERS!

What a beautiful toast and tribute to what sounds like the man of your dreams. You’ve shown me through these words that love is playful, tender, enduring, insightful and accepting – even of the raw or raunchy stuff we may not always be ready for or used to. (smile)
I felt such a warm energy reading this; thank you for sharing your love and appreciation for your partner. It’s touching!

Oh what a beautiful toast to your husbnd. Such a great tribute and so much love coming from there. Happy birthday to him! I hope you both had a great celebration — or I should say ALL of you!

Believe it or not, I was THERE when that photo in the Tuxedo was taken! I had my mullett in full glow, as well. I was probably in line at Normandy Elementary when that grade school pic was shot as well.

Happy birthday, bud … drop me a line sometime.

So happy belated b-day to your husband and with the love, kindness and respect that you expressed here, not to mention humor, I am sure it was a great birthday, as it will be another amazing year :)

What a wonderful birthday wish. I know I’m late to this, but what a great read. I’m glad that I didn’t skim past it. And to have THE husband that other women swoon at…what a lucky blogwife you are. :) I do believe you should capture that mating balcony dance on video as well….simply to have it captured for the next birthday. Happy Monday.

I was at your other blog, where I read loving descriptions of your boys.
That’s hard to do, but you pulled it off laudibly. Even I love your boys after reading that post.
This is a similarly lovely tribute.
I bet I could say glowing things about my Mr. if I wasn’t me.
Good job on the post, and on marrying so smart.
